Fatehpur Sikri

On the way to Agra, we also stopped at Mughal Emperor Akbar’s capital at Fatehpur Sikri, an amazing gracious ghost city built of sandstone – really special. Built beginning in 1570, it was abandoned in 1585, probably because water sources, never all that common in Uttar Pradesh, dried up.
