Flores
Flores, a lovely town on Lake Peten, is the closest settlement to Tikal. It was much smaller when I was here in the '70s, when it was cut right out of the jungle; I remember a monkey coming up to the table when we were having dinner then, and stealing the butter pats! It's nothing so wild today, but still pretty:
