Around Jaipur

The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur was completed in 1728 by Jai Singh, the Maharaja who built the Amber Fort, after he abandoned the Fort.

The Hawa Mahal, Palace of the Winds in Jaipur. Little more than a façade, this honeycombed building was originally built to allow the women of the royal household to watch the everyday life of the city. It is actually a series of sandstone screens built in 1799 AD.

Street markets are always colorful and fascinating.

Even the monkeys visit the markets...you never know what will fall off a fruit stand...
