A lovely old brick church in Kiev
A very hazy day, unfortunately, and shooting into the sun, so the photo quality is poor, but the photo below is of the construction of a replica of the Great Gates of Kiev, immortalized by the composer Mussorgsky (and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, while we're at it...). It was supposed to be completed years ago, but our guide didn't seem to find it odd that it hadn't been...
A bronze statue of Yaroslavl the Wise, founder of Kiev
In the park near the Gates was this lovely bronze cat, made in commemoration of a cat owned by a restaurant across the street, the cat having been a great favorite of the neighbor before dying in a fire that destroyed the restaurant.
