Cruising Lake Atitlan from Panajachel

We took a small launch out onto Lake Atitlan from Panajachel to get to the town of San Antonio Polopo. The lakeshore is dotted with mansions of wealthy folks from Guatemala City who have weekend and holiday homes here:

Todos Santos is big with kids because it's open season for flying kites:



Of course, some of the kites do come to a bad end...

We encountered a young entrepreneur at a local women's cooperative; she weaves friendship bracelets and is quite serious about the business.

I collect fans and was delighted to buy one from the hands of a man who has been making them from lake reeds for many years
