Built between 1631 and 1653 as the burial place for his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal, Shah Jahan spared little expense on this elaborate and beautiful memorial. It sports four identical facades and sits at one end of a long and beautiful garden with a reflecting pool that serves to double the lovely image of this impressive monument. Words, even photographs, really cannot convey the impact it has on visitors.
