Weaving in Lyon

The silk industry, at its height in the 17th and 18th centuries, is no longer the identity of Lyon, but there are still a few weavers who do things the old way. We visited Soierie Saint-Georges in Vieux-Lyon, operated by Ludovic De La Calle at 11, rue Mourguet. His looms are very old and he must cannibalize older looms or make any replacement parts he requires. He makes the most amazing Jacquard work.
