Parthenon & National Museums

The new Museum of the Parthenon is built over earlier Roman ruins, which are still under excavation; the clever solution was to build the new museum on piers, destroying as little as possible of the earlier ruins and allowing visitors to see the ongoing work. Unfortunately, there is no photography allowed inside the museum.

The National Archaeological Museum still has all the treasures not associated with the Parthenon, like this beautiful mosaic.
