Next we were off to Diego Suarez, in the north, from which we were driven about 100 km on pretty bad roads, lined with very poor villages where many of the men work in the sapphire mines - clearly they don't garner much of the profits - to Montagne d'Ambre National Park
The Nature Lodge at Montagne d'Ambre was a nice change - my room:
They made a nice warm surface for a gecko to warm up on - just look at that foot!
We had a reasonably productive night walk here, but the flash on my camera had gone on strike, so the pickings are slim:

It has some interesting landscape plants, including an old French rose:
The landscape decor included a lot of sculptural Baobab trees that look like they were made from gas cannisters:
