The remains of the Great Basilica, begun in the 6th century and still being added to through the 16th century, when the bishopric was moved elsewhere.
The Lion Gate, not part of the original gate, but placed here in the 5th century A.D. to reduce the size of the gate and make it easier to defend. The relief, showing a lion devouring the head of a bull, is from a temple building and may date from as early as the 6th century B.C.
