I first visited Cambodia in 1995, when only about 1,000 people a year were coming here to see Angkor Wat. As I recall, it had a real runway for the planes, but the airport wasn't much more than an open-air hall. Now, it's an international airport, complete with Khmer statuary replicas and lush gardens:
The tiny town of Siem Reap is a huge bustling place now, sprouting hotels like mushrooms after the rain. Luckily, they still have a pretty traditional market
