St. Peter and Paul Fortress & Cathedral

The interior of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral on Hare Island, oppostive Vasilyevsky Island and its Rostral columns:

The final resting place of the last Tsar, Nicholas II, and most of his family. The bodies of Maria and Alexei have never been found.

The sarcophagi of Alexander II (in the rear in Altai jasper) and his wife (in Ural red quartz) took 17 years to carve. All the other sarcophagi in the Cathedral are of white marble
