Kinsale

On our way across the southern part of Ireland, we decided to avoid staying in Cork and opted for the sleepy village of Kinsale. Very pretty, although it's a bit hard to tell in the mist.

In 1915, the liner RMS Lusitania was sunk by a German U-boat off Old Kinsale Head; it sank in 18 minutes, and only 751 people survived of the nearly 2,000 people on board. The inquest into the sinking was held in the Courthouse, formerly the Market House, the commercial heart of the town:
