Church of St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra

In Demre, near Antalya, is the St. Nicholas Church, a Byzantine church in use between the 5th and 12th centuries. It was the birthplace of St. Nicholas of Myra, who was the Eastern Orthodox Bishop of Myra in the 4th century.
His sarcophagus was desecrated by raiders from Bari, Italy in 1086. Sorry, it's behind glass, which makes taking photographs difficult:



It's a beautiful church and the Turkish government has recently begun to allow the occasional service to be held there; a Russian group was just finishing up while we were there:
