Caravansarai were built a day's journey apart along the length of the Silk Road and there are several in Cappadocia. This is the Agzikara caravansarai, which I visited in 1990. Its layout is typical, with high fortified walls, an open courtyard in the center with a small mosque, and enclosures for people and animals.
This time, we visited one to see a Whirling Dervish performance, but wouldn't you know, my camera battery was dead... This is a fellow traveler's photo of the exterior.
