Madrid - the Plaza Mayor, churches, palaces and museums

The Plaza Mayor, or central square, was designed and in 17th and 18th centuries as the city's original marketplace

A couple of sides are decorated with exquisite paintings

There are plenty of churches for those not allergic to the ABC (Another Bloody Cathedral) concept. This is a pretty one right outside the entrance to the Prado

Real Iglesia Parroquial de Santiago y San Juan Bautista

Iglesia de la Buena Dicha

In addition to the Prado, Kit and I took advantage of the opportunity to visit two of our favorite museums, the Thyssen- Bornemiza

...and the Reina Sofia

We didn't visit the Palacio Real, but it's still a wonder to behold

Just part of a row of statues representing every monarch of Spain ever

...and in particular, Philip V

Coming to this space soon, a video of a flamenco demonstration!
